The wait is finally over as Tata Motors has launched the Tata Punch EV, its most compact electric SUV, targeting urban commuters and first-time EV buyers in India. Built on Tata’s new Acti.EV pure electric platform, the Punch EV is not just a conversion of its petrol sibling but a purpose-built electric vehicle with better refinement, structural rigidity, and futuristic tech. With its aggressive pricing and SUV stance, it’s expected to become one of the best-selling EVs in the country.
Modern SUV Styling With New EV Elements
The Punch EV retains the familiar high-riding stance, muscular wheel arches, and boxy SUV proportions that made the petrol Punch so popular. However, it gets distinct EV design cues like a sealed-off grille, signature LED DRLs, split headlamps, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and blue accents across the body. The EV variant also features a full-width LED light bar at the front, giving it a futuristic face and strong road presence in the sub-4m EV space.
Dual Battery Options With Up to 421km Range
The Punch EV is available in two battery configurations Standard with a 25 kWh battery offering a claimed range of around 315 km, and Long Range (LR) with a 35 kWh battery delivering up to 421 km (MIDC). It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, offering zippy performance and instant torque. Fast charging support is available, with 10 to 80 percent charging possible in under 60 minutes using a DC fast charger.
Feature-Rich Cabin With Segment-First Tech
Inside, the Tata Punch EV features a clean, modern dashboard with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver display, and Tata’s Arcade.ev app suite for entertainment and navigation. It also offers a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, ventilated front seats, wireless charger, and connected car features via ZConnect. The cabin is practical, spacious, and equipped with multiple storage options and rear AC vents.
Built on Acti.EV Platform With Enhanced Safety
Built on Tata’s new Acti.EV architecture, the Punch EV offers improved ride quality, battery integration, and crash safety. It comes equipped with six airbags (top variants), electronic stability control, hill start assist, ISOFIX mounts, TPMS, and a rigid body structure. With a flat floor and better weight distribution, the Punch EV handles confidently on urban roads and narrow corners.
Price and Variants in India
The Tata Punch EV is offered in multiple variants Smart, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+, with prices starting from ₹10.99 lakh to ₹14.49 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on battery and features. Tata also offers optional fast-charging kits and vehicle-to-vehicle charging support. Bookings are open, and deliveries have begun across Tata EV dealerships in metro and Tier 2 cities.
The Perfect Urban EV With SUV Looks and Real-World Range
The Tata Punch EV combines the practicality of a compact SUV with the efficiency and low running cost of an electric vehicle. With its stylish design, range options, connected tech, and Tata’s proven EV ecosystem, the Punch EV is ideal for city dwellers, young professionals, and environment-conscious families.
