BSNL, one of India’s leading public telecom companies, has officially entered the smartphone market with the launch of its own 5G Android phone designed to offer basic smartphone functionality with next-gen connectivity.
BSNL’s First 5G Smartphone Launches With Entry-Level Pricing and Indian Branding
Targeting rural and budget-conscious consumers, this BSNL 5G smartphone offers a clean Android experience, reliable battery life, and essential features at an extremely affordable price point. The phone is manufactured under India’s Make in India initiative, reinforcing BSNL’s commitment to indigenous production and digital empowerment. It’s aimed at users looking for a reliable, no-nonsense Android device to use alongside BSNL’s growing 5G network rollout.
Large Display With Minimalist Design and Sturdy Build
The BSNL Smartphone 5G features a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with standard 60Hz refresh rate, making it sufficient for daily tasks like YouTube streaming, WhatsApp, or news browsing. The build is plastic but solid, with a clean matte finish and rounded edges that offer good hand grip. Available in Black and Blue colors, it includes dual SIM slots and a Type-C charging port. The back hosts a dual camera module with LED flash, while the front notch houses a basic selfie camera. While it doesn’t go after flashy design trends, its simplicity and functionality are perfectly suited for new smartphone users and senior citizens.
Unisoc or MediaTek Entry-Level Chipset With 4GB RAM for Daily Tasks
Under the hood, the BSNL Smartphone 5G runs on either a Unisoc T750 or a MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, depending on the variant, along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage expandable via microSD. It runs on a near-stock version of Android 13 with minimal bloatware, offering a clean UI and smooth usage experience for calls, basic apps, light browsing, and video streaming. The chipset is optimized to handle 5G connectivity without draining battery fast, and BSNL has confirmed that the device will receive security updates periodically to keep the system stable and safe for users in the long run.
Dual Cameras and 5000mAh Battery With USB-C Fast Charging Support
For photography, the BSNL 5G phone includes a basic dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary lens and a 2MP depth sensor to cover regular photo needs. The front camera is 5MP, which is serviceable for video calls and selfies. The standout feature of the phone is its large 5000mAh battery, which easily offers two days of light usage, making it perfect for users who don’t want to charge daily. It supports 18W fast charging via USB-C and comes bundled with a charger in the box. Other essentials include a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, and VoWiFi/VoLTE support, giving it a good balance of modern connectivity and ease of use.
